Laser Hair Removal

Say goodbye to unwanted hair on almost all areas of the body, from upper lips to fingers and toes. Our system’s technology uses combined energies to effectively and gently remove hair of many colours and types from a variety of skin tones.

How does laser hair removal work?

A laser energy source is used to target pigment (in the hair) which generates heat causing permanent damage to the hair's follicle from the inside via the hair shaft. Vortex heating also targets and damages the hair follicle from the outside. The Vortex is created when the Radio Frequency current encircles and heats the outside of the follicle.

When can I expect to see results?
Hair growth is further reduced after every treatment, progressively. Hair is permanently affected only when it is in the active phase of growth as this is the time when pigment is at its highest concentration and the root is deeply embedded in the follicle. As your treatments progress hair growth cycles begin to synchronize, maximizing your results with every appointment.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required varies from person to person and one area of the body to the next. Such factors as hair type and colour, as well as skin tone play a role in the determination of treatment quantity. For example fine hair contains less pigment which in turn generates less heat and requires a higher setting to be more effective. You must also take the skin's pigment into consideration and thus a fair skinned individual can tolerate a higher setting than a darker skinned individual. The "ideal" laser candidate is one with fair skin and dark hair. Those falling outside of that ideal (i.e. most of us) have their settings altered accordingly to accommodate their needs. Patients can expect a 75 - 90 percent clearance of hair with six to eight treatments. Finer and non-colored hair requires additional treatments.

Does it hurt?
Laser treatments can be uncomfortable and are often described as a "hot pinch" or "elastic snap" sensation that is felt only during the actual firing of the laser. Measures such as cool air systems and chill tip treatment heads are used to help increase your comfort level. Medicated numbing creams are also available to help decrease sensitivity during your treatment, but must be applied at least an hour in advance and be covered with plastic wrap in order to be effective.

Can I wax, shave, tweeze or use depilatory creams during the course of my treatment?
Prior to your consultation do NOT remove hair from the area you wish to have treated as your technician will need to see the type and amount of growth in order to assess your treatment requirements and provide an accurate quote. After your consultation the treatment area should be shaved one to two days prior to each appointment. Waxing and tweezing is not compatible with laser treatments as this removes hair from the follicle which will not only eliminate the necessary pigment in order to treat, it will also alter the attempt to synchronize hair growth in order to maximize the result of each treatment and minimize the amount of treatments you will require. Depilatory creams are not recommended. We recommend that you shave or trim only in between appointments.

Does it treat all hair colours?
With ELOS, the Bi-Polar Radio Frequency energy directly targets the hair follicle to create thermal damage and is not chromophore-dependent, meaning it can treat hair with little or no pigment or color. Traditional laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) based hair removal systems cannot effectively remove light or non-pigmented hair since these devices rely on melanin or color in the hair to treat it.
