FotoFacial Skin Rejuvenation

Skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive technique that treats facial veins, sun/age spots, Rosacea/Acne Rosacea and freckles. Intense Pulsed Light energy and bi-polar radio frequency (RF) targets vascular lesions and superficial pigmentation in the skin. Although most patients undergo treatments on the facial area, it can also treat the neck, chest, back, arms and legs.

How many treatments will I need?
You will require at least 5 treatments scheduled approximately 3-4 weeks apart.

What can I expect?
This is a multiple treatment program which provides gradual improvement over time, so you must be prepared to make the commitment in order to maximize your results. During the first 5-7 days after your treatment(s) you will notice a darkening (coffee ground appearance) of the treated lesions before they flake off naturally. Once the exfoliation process has been completed you will notice a progressive lightening of the lesions with every treatment you undergo. Results vary, but on average you can expect to see at least a 75-80% improvement in color, tone and clarity in the target area and overall appearance. A recent study showed the overall patient satisfaction score was 92 percent. Patients can also experience a bonus side benefit of significant improvement in skin laxity and texture, pore size reduction and some wrinkle improvement.

Does it hurt?
IPL treatments can be uncomfortable and are often described as a "hot pinch" or "elastic snap" sensation that is felt only during the actual firing of the beam. Measures such as cool air systems and chill tip treatment heads are used to help increase your comfort level. Medicated numbing creams are also available to help decrease sensitivity during your treatment, but must be applied at least an hour in advance and be covered with plastic wrap in order to be effective.

Are the results permanent?
In order to maintain and/or maximize your results, it is imperative that you wear a sun block (SPF 30 or higher) on your face (or other treated areas) every day from the time you begin your program on, even if it appears overcast or you are spending the majority of your day indoors or in your vehicle. If you do not adequately filter UV rays by way of sun block, your pigmented lesions will quickly return and more will form in time.
